Cleansing

About six years ago I did my first De-tox Cleanse, which consisted of 2 days of nothing but raw fruits and vegetables and herbal teas, 3 days of pure juice and herbal teas and then 2 days of raw fruits and vegetables and herbal teas. It made a profound impact on my life. After about 27 years of eating a whole lot of crap, I gave my digestive system a break and kicked my natural de-tox system into full gear so it could do it's thing. Since then I have done two or three more De-tox Cleanses, the last one being Spring of 2004 when Santino and I both did one together.

Another one is way over-due.

Tomorrow Santino and I commence on our next De-tox Cleanse. I'm feeling really excited about it and feel like I have been preparing for it for over a week. Last week I quit coffee (FOR GOOD THIS TIME DAMMIT), which is probably one of the hardest parts about this cleanse. Saturday we went grocery shopping and stocked up on juice. Yesterday I went to the local produce market and bought a huge back of organic fruits and vegetables. Tomorrow we commence on our journey towards spiritual enlightenment and physical rejuvenation.

A few weeks ago I bought a book about switching to a raw foods diet. The author recommends that you start with a De-tox Cleanse (exactly like the one we are planning to do) and then gradually integrating Raw Foods recipes into our diet afterwards. I have made the beginning steps towards making this transformation in our diet. Next step will be to snag all of the food preparation equipment that I am going to need to make all of the fabulous Raw Recipes that are in the book. This stuff isn't cheap by any means, but I'm hoping that I will be able to find used versions of it on ebay.
