Myrrh and Cypress
I recently discovered a couple of essential oils that did some amazing things for me so I thought I would share.
1. For the past 7 or 8 years I had a big acne scar on my left cheek. I got it from squeezing a zit too hard and breaking the skin when I was in my early twenties. I planned on getting laser surgery one day and having it smoothed out and lightened up when I could afford it, but apparently that was completely unnecessary.
One of my Natural Healing books claimed that if you put Myrrh Essential oil on scars (even really old ones) it will vanish them. It does this by increasing blood circulation to the area you apply it, and causes healing. I was skeptical because my scar was 7 years old but figured I would give it a try. I bought a small bottle of Myrrh in Jojoba essential oil at Whole Foods. I think it was like $6 bucks or something. Make sure you don't put PURE Myrrh essential oil on your skin, it's too concentrated. You have to put it in a carrier oil, like Jojoba. Anyway, I applied it to my scar twice a day for about 2 weeks and it went away! I'm amazed. This stuff is like magic.
2. Enchanted by my Myrrh experience, I decided to research essential oils that I could use to get rid of some tiny spider veins on my thighs that have been there since I was a teenager. I was also planning on getting laser surgery one day to have them removed. I read that a good essential oil is Cypress Oil - as it acts as a constrictor of blood vessels. If you apply it to a blood vessel (essentially what a spider vein is) it will constrict it to the point where there is no more blood in it and it disappears.
I made a little potion mixing Coconut and Almond Massage cream with about 10 drops of Cypress oil. I've been applying it 3 times a day for the past 5 days and I can already see a difference!
Anyway, I'm excited because I just averted thousands of dollars of laser surgery that to be honest was a bit vain to begin with by using about $20 worth of pure natural essential oils.
I'm happy.
