32nd Birthday

This year my birthday was pretty low key. Turning 32 doesn't feel much different than being 31... except that I guess I am getting alot more used to being thirtysomething. It's been a bit of an adjustment, but I feel pretty good about it. If I look back on my life in my twenties, they were filled with quite a bit of turmoil... and alot of struggling. Now I find myself at a very stable place, a place where I can really start to grab hold of my personal power and fulfill creative visions that have been floating around in my subconsious for decades.

One of my favorite presents I got this year was from my friend Vera. She made me some leg warmers out of this really cool green material with swirling silver thread and sequins. She also made me a skirt to go over pants. I love these presents! I have been trying to look for some new style in my wardrobe, and Vera has inspired me with her creations.

Freelance Project

I've been helping out the older sister of my friend, Shobha with the design of the web site for her new business. I really been having alot of fun with this project, and have realized that I really ENJOY doing work just like this. I have so far designed her logo, a business card, and a splash screen for her web site. I think I have finally found my passion for web design again and(!) I get to work at home and make money while doing it. I'm really psyched. Now I am going to design a PowerPoint presentation template for her, as well as design and code her full web site. :)

On Monday, my birthday, I have a meeting with a man that I met through my family about doing a Flash freelance project. He tells me that he has ALOT of projects for me in the future. It's so amazing how things have been working out for me since I have moved back to Charlottesville. Alot of my dreams have come true that I have worked towards for many years.

I am also very excited because my friend Verabug made me a pair of legwarmers and a skirt thingie for my birthday. I can't wait to get them in the mail and put them on! I have to figure out what I am going to wear them with. The leg warmers are going to look really cool with the black Pony mary jane sneakers that I got in May.

I recorded this Techno Bass live on my radio show on Global Funk Radio this past winter. I am currently working on my selektastjarna.com web site, complete with a "Mixes" section so I can organize and present my archives.

If you download and listen, please take some time to leave me some feedback in the comments section. It would really make my day. :)

Evening Summer Walks

So I have lived back in Virginia for over a month now. I feel like I woke up from a long, three year nightmare straight out of '1984.'

Whenever Santino and I can, we go for walks around the farm and down the road in the evening after dinner. I snapped the picture above around the time of the Summer Solstice on one of these walks. That same evening we saw an amazing little bright orange salamander but my camera didn't get a clear picture of him. I am really wanting a new camera that can take really good close up nature photography shots. There is so much amazing wildlife around me every day. Because of this, I feel justified in spending several hundred dollars for one.
