Cleansing

About six years ago I did my first De-tox Cleanse, which consisted of 2 days of nothing but raw fruits and vegetables and herbal teas, 3 days of pure juice and herbal teas and then 2 days of raw fruits and vegetables and herbal teas. It made a profound impact on my life. After about 27 years of eating a whole lot of crap, I gave my digestive system a break and kicked my natural de-tox system into full gear so it could do it's thing. Since then I have done two or three more De-tox Cleanses, the last one being Spring of 2004 when Santino and I both did one together.

Another one is way over-due.

Tomorrow Santino and I commence on our next De-tox Cleanse. I'm feeling really excited about it and feel like I have been preparing for it for over a week. Last week I quit coffee (FOR GOOD THIS TIME DAMMIT), which is probably one of the hardest parts about this cleanse. Saturday we went grocery shopping and stocked up on juice. Yesterday I went to the local produce market and bought a huge back of organic fruits and vegetables. Tomorrow we commence on our journey towards spiritual enlightenment and physical rejuvenation.

A few weeks ago I bought a book about switching to a raw foods diet. The author recommends that you start with a De-tox Cleanse (exactly like the one we are planning to do) and then gradually integrating Raw Foods recipes into our diet afterwards. I have made the beginning steps towards making this transformation in our diet. Next step will be to snag all of the food preparation equipment that I am going to need to make all of the fabulous Raw Recipes that are in the book. This stuff isn't cheap by any means, but I'm hoping that I will be able to find used versions of it on ebay.

Fucking Coffee

Something weird happened to me yesterday. I woke up with 3 awful pains in my head. For one, the last tooth on which I had a root canal was throbbing - which was very disturbing because I recently paid about $800 to have it worked on and fixed. Another was an extremely sharp pain in my head which seemed to be connected to the dull ache of my tooth. Lastly, I felt like my sinuses were clogged on the side of my head where my tooth was aching. I have no idea how this happened... as for the most part my tooth hasn't been giving me much problem since I had my root canal therapy over two months ago.

I went downstairs to use the bathroom and I guess standing up made the pains in my head more intense because as soon as I got in the bathroom, nausea struck and I vomited. This is how my morning started off. I managed to be able to lay down on the couch and try to get myself together to go make some coffee and start work... but I fell back asleep and slept until 1:30 in the afternoon. Needless to say, because I never did get my morning dose of caffeine I was feeling MUCH worse. I continued to lay in agony with frequent bursts of running to the bathroom to vomit all day and all night. Santino brought me some Saltines and some Ginger Ale but I couldn't even hold those down.

One funny part about last night is that I got so sick of going to the toilet to barf, I decided to start going outside the front door to barf into the flower bed off of the doorstep. Santino told me to try to psychologically conquer the urge to barf, since it was at that point probably bruising my stomach. I was trying to do this, but I still felt the urge to go somewhere that was barf-friendly just in case. I went outside, not realizing a thunderstorm had commenced. So there I am, on hands and knees on my front porch leaning over into the flower bead with rain coming down on me, thunder and wind all around and still trying to fight the urge to barf. I let out a long moan and started crying wildly - and what do you know, I didn't throw up. For some reason the act of letting the purging energy channel into my voice instead of puke seemed to work. What was also sort of interesting was after I started wailing, the wind seemed to reply to my moans by kicking up a few notches.

Anyway, that was the highlight of my day yesterday.

I woke up this morning feeling better. I've decided I am not falling back into the coffee habit ever again. I don't like being so addicted to a substance that I come down with violent migraines when I don't have access to it.

I just bought a book about switching over to a raw food diet and the author claims that caffeine is actually a natural pesticide that the plant produces to repel insects. It is basically a poison that has an effect on the central nervous system. Yesterday proved this to be true. No. more. coffee!

Her Name

It was channeled to me from above, that her name is "Aeon".
A few months ago I blogged about a track for which I did vocals being released on a record label based about of Barcelona. Since it's release, the record has gotten a few reviews, all of which have been very positive. Here's one from Electro Alliance:

V/A – The Guilty Compilation V – Dona-Li 06

Said to be unfortunately the last chapter of the brilliant electro series provided by the Spanish label, The Guilty Compilation V was to conclude spectacularly. And the 12’’ takes up the challenge, no doubt! Delivering his second contribution to Dona-Li, Kosmozo starts the A-side with “The Plan”, a superb piece of funk made of relaxing melodies, bubbling tonalities and vocoder actions. No stranger either to the Catalonia structure, Dorothys Magic’s Bag (Kahvi Collective, Candy Mind Records) maintains the pressure, giving with “8 Bits 2 Bits 4 Bits” a fantastic tribute to Detroit electro, full of bleepy sounds and old school lyrics a la Dopplereffekt. The flipside goes further, introducing two original duos: first of all, US J-Break (Cyberian Knights, Millenium Breaks) and half of ATF band Lethal Agent (Zero One Music, Bass Frequency Productions) deliver on “Drop It” a brutal Miami Bass anthem based upon industrial strings and harsh rhythm. At last, Dona-Li’s mastermind Dark Vektor (Drivecom, Omniam, Djax up Beats), associated with long time partner Morphogenetic (Fundamental Bass Intelligence) serves a terrific “Music Of The Spheres”, made of dark layers, futuristic atmospheres and forward thinking vocals (written by Stjarna). Alernating dancefloor goodies and home listening jewels, this eclectic compilation outclasses the previous ones. Perfect and essential.

Myrrh and Cypress

I recently discovered a couple of essential oils that did some amazing things for me so I thought I would share.

1. For the past 7 or 8 years I had a big acne scar on my left cheek. I got it from squeezing a zit too hard and breaking the skin when I was in my early twenties. I planned on getting laser surgery one day and having it smoothed out and lightened up when I could afford it, but apparently that was completely unnecessary.

One of my Natural Healing books claimed that if you put Myrrh Essential oil on scars (even really old ones) it will vanish them. It does this by increasing blood circulation to the area you apply it, and causes healing. I was skeptical because my scar was 7 years old but figured I would give it a try. I bought a small bottle of Myrrh in Jojoba essential oil at Whole Foods. I think it was like $6 bucks or something. Make sure you don't put PURE Myrrh essential oil on your skin, it's too concentrated. You have to put it in a carrier oil, like Jojoba. Anyway, I applied it to my scar twice a day for about 2 weeks and it went away! I'm amazed. This stuff is like magic.

2. Enchanted by my Myrrh experience, I decided to research essential oils that I could use to get rid of some tiny spider veins on my thighs that have been there since I was a teenager. I was also planning on getting laser surgery one day to have them removed. I read that a good essential oil is Cypress Oil - as it acts as a constrictor of blood vessels. If you apply it to a blood vessel (essentially what a spider vein is) it will constrict it to the point where there is no more blood in it and it disappears.

I made a little potion mixing Coconut and Almond Massage cream with about 10 drops of Cypress oil. I've been applying it 3 times a day for the past 5 days and I can already see a difference!

Anyway, I'm excited because I just averted thousands of dollars of laser surgery that to be honest was a bit vain to begin with by using about $20 worth of pure natural essential oils.

I'm happy.

New Beetle

So I picked up my New Beetle yesterday morning and Santino and I spent all day yesterday driving around the top of the Blue Ridge going to various hiking trails up on Skyline Drive. The climactic moment was when we met the unofficial "Most Friendliest Forest-Mountain Bunny" ever on the Bear Run Trail near Waynesboro. It actually stopped and hung out long enough to groom himself for a photograph.

Now I'm home trying to get some work done while the remainder of the hurricane that hit the South East washes over Central Virginia and I'm antsy to get back out there driving it. I never thought I would be this excited about a car before.

Now I need to find a name for it. :)
